Thanks to those of you who notified me that GRAMPS was featured on "The
Screen Savers" on TechTV this week. I was able to set my TiVo box to
record the episode. I appreciate the notice, since I usually only catch
the show on weekends (and when it doesn't conflict with my son watching
"SpongeBob SquarePants" :-)
The Screen Savers has always treated Linux favorably, and has now
started a new feature that discusses Open Source programs. GRAMPS was
very fortunate to be the first program that they featured. If you didn't
catch the show, they gave GRAMPS quite a favorable review.
Apparently, people have noticed. Statistics on the GRAMPS project page
show the publicity has really helped. GRAMPS usually averages about
300-500 page hits a day. Thursday, the number jumped to 10,888!
Downloads of the program usually are around 10-20 per day, and Thursday
saw a jump to 448. (These statistics are available to anyone, just go to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gramps and select the "Statistics" link)
GRAMPS owes a big thank you to TechTV, The Screen Savers, Joseph Arruda,
and Leo Laporte.
