Yes. The current system uses probably_alive as the main algorithm for determining such dates (birth, death, or both). That code is pretty complicated, and not easy to track down issues. I have a rewrite of that code that I hope will be more robust, easier to maintain, and much more accurate.

Give me a few days, and I'll make that available, either in trunk, or patches.
