James, I think you should send this to gramps-users.
Experience learns users know more about GEDCOM than most developers, and bug list is followed by too few people to get a response here.

Update on this problem:
----------------------
Jean-Marc sent me his gedcom file, and I identified explanations and
tentative fixes for all of the 3000 lines of warning messages -- all of
which are deviations from gedcom standards. I am still putting together
a fixup script for each of about 4 separate problems for Jean-Marc's use.

I have one question about some Ancestrologie gedcom-extensions (custom
element tags). Does anyone know what the significance of these 4
(_ANCES_*) tags might be in the following sample (from the web!):

"""
-- GEDCOM (INDI) --
1 _ANCES_CLE_FIXE 12
1 FILA Enfant l├ęgitime
1 BIRT
2 _ANCES_XINSEE 59350
2 _ANCES_ORDRE 0
2 _ANCES_XACTE 1
2 LATI N50.633333
2 LONG E3.066667
1 DEAT
2 _ANCES_XINSEE 57542
2 _ANCES_ORDRE 1
2 LATI N49.25
2 LONG E6.416667
"""

Ignore other questions that may be raised by this example. The purpose
is to put the _ANCES_* tags in context:

_ANCES_CLE_FIXE 12
_ANCES_XINSEE 59350
_ANCES_ORDRE 0
_ANCES_XACTE 1

..jim
