As you copied the history, can't think of a reason to keep it.
Otherwise to lock it somehow so nobody does commits per mistake.

The website seems fine to me. Perhaps it has been restored.

I can destroy the old repository. But it can't be undone. Any reason we should keep it around as a backup?
