Mary,
Did you use MATE or CINNAMON?  Thanks.

Cinnamon, 64 bit. But I used MATE before, and saw no difference in Gramps.

Notes:
1. Mint 15 RC is a Release Candidate. That means that it's not consumer ready, officially speaking,
2. Spell checking, handling image data, and geography (maps), are not available in a clean Mint install. Gramps works well without, but installing these features is quite a technical task, which can only be done when you feel comfortable with stuff like this:

http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=GEPS_029:_GTK3-GObject_introspection_Conversion#Spell_Check_Install

The better link now is the Linux:build page, http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Linux:Build_from_source#Full_install_walkthrough_Gramps_4.0_Ubuntu_derivatives
The GEPS page will no longer be updated, as that is released.
If Gramps itself is installed via deb, only the part starting at 'spell checking' needs to be done.
