Gramps users,

Jerome has written a text on the wiki about using Gramps as an event manager. The idea is that you can take a registry (eg births, census), make a 'family tree' for it, and add every line of the registry as an event in Gramps, with the ID the index in the registry. Like this the registry can be distributed to people who require it (many registries are now distributed as spreadsheets).

The text is here: http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Events_manager

An advantage over spreadsheets is that one can add notes and media images in the Gramps file.

Might be useful or give some people ideas.
Feel free to improve the text, it is a wiki after all. Only registering is needed.

Perhaps somebody has other nice ideas on how Gramps can be used? Jerome for example also distributes a gramps file with all common places in France (see http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Place_database which can use some cleanup).

Greetings,
Benny
