Thanks Benny and Doug. I used the gramplet and it worked fine.

Few more questions:
a) Is there a  textfile interface from which gramps database can be populated?
    This can potentially help speed up the task when a lot of entries need to be added. Adding them one by one becomes very slow with all the clicking that needs to take place.

b) Is there a limitation on the size of the database that gramps uses? I am running it on mac book air.

c) One question from my previous email was about how to count number of girls (or boys or dads) in each generation starting from the leaf node (assume birthdates are not known).

There is a Given name Cloud Gramplet that already does much of what
you would need.
