When GPSBabel was simple, a simple text README sufficed. Unfortunately, that quit being true a long time ago. Building on the work that Dave Pawson started by moving our words to Docbook, Ron Parker has recently done a trainload of work on our documentation and has greatly improved the formatting, consistency, and quality of our doc. You can see the current fruits of this labor at: http://www.gpsbabel.org/htmldoc-development/readme.html ...but you might not want to make that a long-term bookmark. My master plan is to start putting "frozen" versions of the doc on the web so that a user of GPSBabel 1.3.0 can always find online doc that matches GPSBabel 1.3.0 while those using development versions can find a similar version for something closer to the development action. If you have suggested specific improvements for your favorite format or section, please send them to the gpsbabel-code list. If you can provide it as a patch to the docbook code, great, but if you provide words ready to drop in, we can format an integrate them. RJL |
