Hi Lew, Yes, it sounds like you have the fulldownload. Documentation is a little light, but see http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net/readme.html,particularly the COMMON USAGE section at the bottom. And try gpsbabel -? from thecommand line. You have the choice of the somewhat outdatedgui (GPSBabelfront) or using the commandline (GPSBabel.exe). The Gui doesn#8217;t support routes and tracksyet, so you will need to use the command line. I am not too sure about USAPhotomapsfile formats, but it looks like GPX. From a command prompt, you can do: gpsbabel #8211;i magellan #8211;f com1 #8211;ogpx #8211;F waypoints.gpx gpsbabel #8211;r #8211;i magellan #8211;fcom1 #8211;o gpx #8211;F routes.gpx gpsbabel #8211;t #8211;i magellan #8211;fcom1 #8211;o gpx #8211;F tracks.gpx to get three files with your waypoints, routes and tracks. Subject: [Gpsbabel-misc] Am Igetting a complete download Brand new to this site, and attempting to work out how to use GPSBabel. I am particularly interested insomehow getting tracks, routes and waypoints from my Magellan Meridian into theprogram USAPhotomaps by Doug(?) Cox. I am not sure I am getting a completedownload when I attempt to get GPSBabel. When I unzip the download (WindowsXP), I end up with two exe files (GPSBabel and GPSBabelfront), and one dll(libexpat). It sounded to me from your site that I should be getting a readmefile with instructions, but am getting nothing else. Am I getting a completedownload, or should I be getting other files? Unfortunately, it has been yearssince I used command line instructions (although I was capable years back), andI am not a programmer at all. Sorry to sound so incompetent - I'm not, really. Thanks for any help. Lew Snyder --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Find out what made the Top Yahoo! Searches of 2003 |
