I recently purchased a Merax Photo Finder GPS (http://www.merax.com/products/Photo/PhotoFinderGPST.html; for review, see http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2302310,00.asp), and I'm having trouble retrieving the track log with GPSBabel. Can anyone tell me if this device is supported yet, and -- if so -- what settings I should use to retrieve the log file? (Admittedly, I am very new to GPSBabel; I am basically look for a way to retrieve the GPS log without relying on the manufacturer's software -- which actually doesn't seem to allow me to even retrieve the log.) My configuration: * Windows Vista * GPSBabel v1.3.6 (via GPSBabelGUI-2, v0.2.22.0) I think I've confirmed that the device is on COM5, as this port does not appear in the drop-down list until after I connect the device. (The device connects through a USB cable; apparently, it uses a Nemerix GPS chipset). I've tried cycling through all of the available device options (Brauniger IQ series, Garmin, etc.), but none seems to work -- although I do some error messages that suggest the device can at least be seen (again, using COM5). For example: * When I try "Garmin serial/USB protocol," I receive the message: "GPS_Packet_Read: No DLE. Data received, but probably not a garmin packet." * When I try GlobSat DG-100/BT-335 Download," a command window pops open and GPSBabel seems to be working, but nothing else happens -- the process seems to "lock up," and the only way out is to force-quit GPSBabel (or at least force-quit the command window) * When I try "Holux M-241 (MTK-based) download," I get the error: "mtk_logger: This is not a MTK based GPS ! (or is it turned off ?)" * When I try "Wintec WBT-100/200 GPS Download," I receive the error "WBT-100/200: Can't determine device type" * All other device types produce errors as well... Any suggestions on how I might be able to use GPSBabel to retrieve the track log? Thank you! - Scott |
