I've been talking to Doug Smith, the author of GeocachingDB, in the
interest of adding support for GeocachingDB to GPSBabel. He's provided
the basic layout and Ron Park provide the rosetta stone at
but I'm sort of spinning with how to proceed without making life really
difficult from here. Maybe I'm not seeing the brilliance of it, but
this is a really wierd format as I'm understanding it right now.
I have a list from Doug that includes lines like:
GCID GC ID gcid text Single line
which equates to 'shortname' in our wpt structures.
But the way I'm reading the spec - and indeed, think I've confirmed in
the sample files Doug sent me - is that the fields can be in random
order *for each record* and the only way to distinguish them is to
key off comparisons of fieldname so we have to loop over every field
in every record, comparing like a madman, remembering the order they
appeared, and building up the eventual target info, right?
Or is there some method to this that I'm just missing through bleary
