#80 Satellite Visibility Incorrect?

Hi.

I am located in Melbourne Australia (Lon: 144.570645 E Lat: 37.491886 S) and when I enter the geostationary satellites (Measat3, Measat3a, Asiasat 3S and Asiasat 5), they are incorrectly reported as not being visible at my location. Am I doing something wrong? I have attached a screenshot for your perusal.

I am running GPredict v1.3 on Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 and updated NORAD TLE data.

NOAA and GPS satellite orbital prediction works very well on GPredict and I love this application in general.

    I tried Gpredict 1.3 on Windows 7 and in the beginning my map looked like yours. However, after performing TLE update the satellites moved to be within range of Melbourne - see the screenshot I attached: GpredictGeo.png

    I think your TLE update must have gone wrong somehow, Maybe there was an error, or maybe you have removed the geo.txt file from the update list some time ago? You can examine the log file (File -> Log browser) to see the status of the TLE update. If you are unsure whether you have modified the TLE update configuration you can restore the original settings by going to Edit-> Preferences -> TLE update and press the RESET button.

    Thanks for that Alexandru.

    It's a Windows 7 permissions issue as the log browser is reporting errors writing the TLE data file. Installing on a Windows XP PC worked just fine.

    I'm closing the bug for now, but feel free to reopen if you find out that gpredict could/should do something differently (e.g. place the data files somewhere else).
