Bugs item #747792, was opened at 2003-06-03 01:11 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by ntoivola You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=108874&aid=747792&group_id=8874 Category: None Group: camlib/canon Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Niku Toivola (ntoivola) Assigned to: Stephen H. Westin (swestin) Summary: S50: first init fails, auto power off not disabled Initial Comment: On my new Canon Powershot S50, I have two problems with current CVS libgphoto2 and gphoto2 (June 2): gphoto2 2.1.2dev7 gcc, popt, exif, cdk, aa, jpeg, readline libgphoto2 2.1.2dev11 gcc, EXIF, no ltdl, /proc/meminfo libgphoto2_port 0.5.1 gcc, USB, serial without locking, no ltdl 1. After plugging the camera in, the first gphoto operation fails (debug output attached). Trying the same operation again works, as do all operations thereafter. 2. Auto power off on the camera is not disabled even during file transfers. During large --get-all-files operations, the camera will eventually go to sleep in the middle of the transfer and the transfer will obviously fail. This might be related to the fact that the camera buttons and the LCD display are not disabled? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Niku Toivola (ntoivola) Date: 2003-06-04 01:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=436850 I can reproduce (2) any time I have a 256MB card full or nearly full and try to download everything in one go (ie. gphoto2 -P). Hard to say how many pics exactly but I think 30 to 50 superfine/large jpegs (which I think correlates with the 3-minute auto power off delay). I haven't timed this but I can perform some more tests tonight if that would help. I assume the LCD and buttons should be disabled during downloads. Maybe that would disable the auto power off as well and since the LCD and buttons are not disabled, the auto power off remains active as well? Just guessing... Let me know if there's something I can do to help debug this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Niku Toivola (ntoivola) Date: 2003-06-03 11:37 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=436850 I can reproduce (2) any time I have a 256MB card full or nearly full and try to download everything in one go (ie. gphoto2 -P). Westin (swestin) Date: 2003-06-03 06:33 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=682763 (1) should be fixed. Just checked in new version 1.73 of usb.c; previous fix for new cameras was bad. (2) is strange. Let me think about it and attempt to reproduce here. How many files do you need to download to make this happen? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hubert Figuiere (hfiguiere) Date: 2003-06-03 01:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=27487 problem is in Canon driver.
