I guess this is kind of a feature request. My Canon camera comes with a windows program to do remote capture, in the remote capture program it extends the lens and lets you see what the camera is seeing and take a picture when you want. The cool thing about this is it gives you the video out of the camera, as though it were a video camera just using the usb, in addition you can set the camera to output this video to the camera's lcd screen, or to the camera's video output, or select no output. I have tested the video out on my camera and it doesn't give any output when I am using gphoto, although it allows me to have video output at other times or when using the Canon program. This would be really cool for surveillance applications that have been discussed previously in the mailing list, and for target recognition and other things. Anyway, I just thought it would be awesome if someone were able to implement this feature in a later version. Thanks, Chris. |
