This may help for new users who don't know how the program runs or where to put in their credentials. I've seen in different forums where they don't know what to do after they run the program. I think a popup balloon on the toolbar icon would help with this and draw their attention to the arrow-icon.

Hi, unfortunately I don't understand the requirement.

If there is an empty username, password or syncprofile, the GoContactSyncMod form is shown to the user, where he can type in and set up everything. Only after setting up everything (including the AutoSync setting) and maybe once clicked on Sync, he can hide the form and he doesn't need to draw attention to the arrow-icon anymore (except if there are errors).

Can you please be more specific what you propose to show in the balloon, but i a way to not spam the users aware how to deal with GoContactSync with balloons?

  • Ive seen in the forums or on support requests that new users dont know what to do when they install this application for the very first time. They don't know what the tray icon looks like or even if there is one after they install and try to use the program. If you show a balloon to the new user then they will know Rey have to do something with the tray icon or where to put in their credentials.

implemented in upcoming 3.5.7 version, showing the following text when the user starts GoContactSync the first time: Application started and visible in your PC's system tray, click on this balloon or the icon below to open the settings form and enter your Google credentials there.
