I love gnuplot but I have to store and manipulate data in Excel. Is there a way to use gnuplot as a plotting tool for Excel instead Excel graphs? It would be great to run gnuplot from inside Excel and make gnuplot to replot data if numbers in Excel cells change as for Excel graphs. Using VBA scripts for Excel would be fine but simple storing and then loading Excel files in gnuplot is of no interest. Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It seems you have found the easiest way how to achieve the task - when the data change, save just the necessary data to be plotted to a file and then just replot them. That's the way how other programs (Octave, Maxima, ... to name the most complex ones) use gnuplot as a plotting engine for many many years. (The file can be saved on disk, into shared memory, to stdin, as you like.)
