#6 Coupling axes directly to other axes

[This is a feature proposed by users. I'm just
summarizing it for this entry --- I'm not the
proponent...]

It would be nice to be able to set up a fixed mapping
function that determines the values to be displayed on
one axis from those on the parallel axis. E.g. if the
'x1' axis was some
repetition time, it would be nice to have the x2 axis
automatically show the corresponding frequency:

set x2tics function 1.0/x1

or some similar syntax. This would only make full sense
if there are no data plotted using the x2 axis, of
course. The x2range would be computed from the
(optionally tic-extended) x1 range, automatically. Tic
placement would otherwise be independent of the x1
axis.

    Wow, this is an old request. It would be very very cool, if you could add this (for me) very important feature. It does not look terrible complicated to solve, as proposed by broeker.
