Would it be possible for gnuplot to automatically
scale the output postscript (especially for eps)
document so that when aspect ratio is being preserved,
the document size follows the graph size, this would
allow, when including the eps file in other documents
to remove a lot of blank space left.

In case this involves to many changes, an option to
specify the postscript output size.

Thanks for your help and this great tool,

Xavier

It might be possible, but it'd be hard. The problem is that
the bounding box has to be written into the PostScript file
    rather early.
At that time, the effects of 'set size square' haven't been
taken into account yet. There's a circular dependency
    lurking there, actually.

It might be easier to just feed the gnuplot-generated EPSes
through ghostscripts's little "ps2epsi" script that add a
pixel-perfect bounding box (and a preview image, too).

A simple size option for EPS-output would be enough. If
you make EPS-plots you generate them for a certain well
known space in your document. A "SIZE" option to
overide the default size would be right for that. The EPS-
bounding box is then just the given size.

This might be easier to implement.

There is now a "size" option for set term post eps
