I am trying to digitize .png files. I have a code in IDL that would read_png and assign values along the axes and then you use the mouse click to generate points over the top of the graph. In GDL I get MAGICK_OPEN: error.
Has anyone started to work with the magick pro's or have another method of creating a 2d array from a plot in GDL?
Please post here some example code that reveals the problem - otherwise it's difficult to help you. The "MAGICK_OPEN: error" message says almost nothing :(. I had no problems with PNG i/o in GDL - in principle it should work.
for some strange reason when I specified the exact path to the file, not using the ~ to indicate the home directory, it worked
thanks for advice on posting for future help
I made several combinations, without problems. Same behavior than in IDL.
Your code is welcome.
Could you please too said which version of GDL you are using (print, !gdl, !version) on which OS.
The path expansion was fixed in ImageMagick routines in march 2010 (i.e. it's available only in the CVS version):
