I tried installing the Darwin x86 beta on an IBM PC300PL. I
let it take the whole disk and create the default filesystems.
All the packages appear to install, but after a reboot the PC
acts as if there is no operating system installed. I tried a
second time, this time using a manual FDisk, but I got the
same result. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does this happen with GNU-Darwin beta 2.5 or 2.3? And does
it occour with Apple's Darwin 1.41?

It's most likely that Darwin isn't writing over your MBR. I
don't know why, but some MBRs will get written over, other's
wont. This doesn't appear to be a GNU-Darwin specific item,
but a Darwin one. I don't know as though there is anything
we can do regarding this. You might try installing lilo or
grub and having that point to the darwin booter partition.
