I'm 100% positive DRI (OpenGL) is working on my system
(since other programs work just fine such as Quake 3
and Unreal Tournament)
GLtron compiles cleanly. Starts up, Sound works, Start
the game and I see 1000 fps but the game is running
VERY slowly.
I am running Redhat 7.1 with XFree86 4.1
I have a ATI Rage Furry 128 (using the latest r128.o
module for DRI)
Kernel 2.4.5
SDL 1.2
I see DRI start up at start of the Game...loaded Mesa
3.4.2 and all it's extensions... something about can't
initialize video: video already initialized.

I get exactly the same problem and wonder whether it's
DRI/Rage 128 Pro chipset related based on identical GLTron
problems reported on Usenet (not here unfortunately).
However, every other OpenGL application (as you said) on
my system works fast and fine (notably Quake 2, Quake 3, etc.).
I'm running RH7.2 with XFree4.1.0 and an ATI Rage Fury Pro
(32MB AGP) with Kernel 2.4.17 and SDL 1.2.2, although this
problem was first noticed back in Sept when I used RH7.1 &
XFree 4.0.3 (IIRC).

Hopefully this is fixed in the newest DRI drivers. It's not
really a GLtron issue.
Note: I'm closing all the old bugs and moving them into
bugzilla, running at www.jonatking.org/bugzilla (and
bugzilla.gltron.org, once the cookie issue is fixed).
