#1 Support for VIA VT8233

Hello,

I wanted to ask if you intend to write support for VIA
VT8233 southbridge integrated audio (AC97). I think it
differs little from VT82C686, and I think that this
driver could support both chipsets.

I have a Soltek SL-75DRV motherboard, KT-266 chipset
and VT8233 southbridge. The original VT82C686 driver
didn't work, so I fixed the device IDs. Then the driver
loaded without errors, but sound didn't work and I
would get "uart401: bad devc" errors.

Are you aware of this problem, and do you intend to fix
the sound driver to support VT8233? What can I do to
help you?

P.S. there is no "VIA audio driver" cathegory in bug
cathegories as far as I can see.

Hello,

This is Teofilis, I submitted this bug (or rather a missing
feature). I wanted to add that ALSA already has support for
VT8233. It works on my machine, so updating this driver is
not critical. Hope that is of any help.
