Perhaps this is an obvious question, and I tried to find another post that answered it..

I’ve been running gimp 2.8pt2 for a good year now happily forgot that the project keeps going forward.

I’m totally anti-photoshop (thank you GIMP) and use GIMP as the platform for my graphic design company. Never had a problem with it. But I’m keen to keep with the times and am worried I’ll loose my perfectly stable and beautiful GIMP and all it’s files.

so:
Do I have to uninstall my previous version?
Will I loose all the brushes and plugins i’ve added/downloaded?

I’m running Lion OSx 10.7.3 :)
