In single-window mode the toolbox dock can only be widened. If I exit single-window mode the toolbox window pops out wide and I can make it narrower. But when I reselect single-window mode it goes back to its widened state. Currently its taking up half the Gimp window
The issue doesn't happen for the the other dock that has Histogram, tool presets editor and layers etc.
The issue happened in 2.8.6p0 and p1
OS X 10.8.4

??? ... just use standard OS X functionality.
Do you see the green bubble in the upper left corner of the toolbox window?
Click it -> the window maximizes. Then -> drag the lower right corner of the toolbox window ...
....sorry, wrong post, mixed it up with a mail I got.
After resizing the toolbox, quit GIMP to save the window size and position.
Ahh much better - thank you.
And thanks for all your work on GIMP for OS X :-)
Resize and quit helps for current session, but I've noticed that when I've added tools to the left side, when I restart it goes back to some weird size. rolling back for now.
edit: Looks like you can set window size quit and come back then open single window mode. but if you quit and come back again setting is lost.
Any news with this?
I have the same problem with Gimp 2.8.6 on Ubuntu 12.10.
