I've noticed that Gimp generates several files and folders under the user
directory ( ie . .gimp-2.6 .thumbnails .recently-used.xbel and so forth.) Is
there any particular reason that these arent stored either in user/appdata or
just in the gimp install folder? It is really rather annoying to see them all
the time, and flagging them as hidden doesnt work because they are deleted and
generated frequently, loosing the hidden flag.
It's just an UNIX heritage. (Gimp for Windows is just an adaptation of
GNU/Linux & BSD version.)

I'm aware of that, I've used Linux in the past. However, for the Windows
binaries couldn't it be modified to use the apps directory? Or even combine
them all in to a single .gimp folder?
