Canon PIXMA MG5100 series driver

What is the status of the gutenprint driver for Canon pixma mg5100 series printers?
I never see any output from my mg5150 using the gutenprint driver, even the one from CVS.
This is on a Gentoo system, with cups-1.4.6-r2, ghostscript-gpl-9.04-r3, gimp-2.6.11-r5.

When asked to print the cups test-page, it is clearly sent data and says it is "Processing"
for several minutes before cups announces job completed. But no printout.

Is the driver know to work on this model? If not, how can I help?
I am able to build the driver from CVS and log traffic on the usb bus etc.

  • Hi,
Thank you for the report. I have submitted changes to the CVS code for the
    MG series:
    - correct control set for the printers (MG5100, MG5200, MG6200, MG8100)
    - corrected ESC (P command to use 6 bytes instead of 4.

Please try to use the CVS gutenprint code and let me know how it goes.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to compile, we can test by me sending you
test print-jobs generated from my computer provided I get an email address
    for you.

    Hi Gernot,

I have a Canon MG6150, and two MG6250 near my desk at the moment. If you need any test prints done (I can also compare against windows test prints) I'm happy to help.

Thanks for all the great work you guys are doing on this!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi David,
Yes, please, if you can test the MG6100 and MG6200 series devices, that would be splendid.
Could you contact me on the gimp-print mailing list for this, or directly using aikishugyo at google's mail service.
