With gutenprint-5.2.7, the colors are misaligned. Reverting to 5.2.6 fixes the problem. Attached is a scan of the botched print of this file: http://michael.peopleofhonoronly.com/vim/vim_cheat_sheet_for_programmers_print.png
And the change in 5.2.7 was supposed to *fix* a problem with that printer.
What resolution and quality settings are you using?
Can you try the TX200 driver in 5.2.7 to see if it works?
I have the same problem with an epson NX200 3 in 1 printer
Just tried TX200 driver. This seems to work OK, superimposed colours anyway. A temporary fix.
Can the original poster also try this to see if it works?
The "permanent fix" will simply be to codify this change, so don't worry about using the workaround.
Sorry for the delay. The resolution was 300 DPI, photo quality.
Using the TX200 driver changes nothing. Same color misalignment.
Colchicum, which version of Gutenprint are you using?
Sorry, since I said I had the same problem I assumed you would realise it was also with the 5.2.7 update. The TX200 driver works for my Epson NX200 for a quite complicated OpenOffice file I've just printed (a botanical magazine). The colour misalignment occurred with anything I tried to print from any application (e.g. adobe acrobat, thunderbird etc. I am using PCLinuxOS.
I should also have said that I tried switching the ppd files back and forth, the NX200 one failed every time and the TX200 was always OK.
Colchicum, are you using an NX200 or an SX200? I would *expect* them to be the same, but I can't be certain. And you say that the TX200 driver works with it?
stefantalpalaru, you say that both the SX200 and the TX200 drivers print incorrectly with your printer. Which printer are you actually using? 300 DPI isn't a resolution for that printer, so I assume you're referring to application resolution. What Gutenprint settings for quality and resolution are you using?
My printer is an Epson Stylus SX200. According to the gimp plugin, the printing resolution is "default" and the print quality is "photo".
I think it's clear if you read my posts properly that I am using an Epson NX200 3in1 printer. I have not tried the SX200 driver with it since the TX200 works OK.
@Colchicum, I wanted to be certain I understood you correctly. So you're using an NX200 with the TX200 driver.
@Stefantalpalaru, you have an SX200, and none of the drivers (SX200, TX200, NX200) work. Is that correct?
Yes that's is Robert, thanks for looking into this.
By the way, for curiosity I've just tried using the SX200 driver with this NX200 printer, it also gives misaligned colours. Only the TX200 of the ones I've tried is OK.
I also seem to be having margin problems when printing in brochure format from OpenOffice . This is with the TX200 driver in place, so maybe it's not perfect!
Margin problem seems to be an OOo issue, it's OK in OOo3.2, but not 3.3. Sorry
So the TX200 driver works with the NX200, but none of the drivers (NX200, TX200, or SX200) work with the SX200?
Stefan, could you try with 5.2.7 using all three drivers?
I just did that and all three drivers present the same kind of missalignment:
- yellow - aligned
- magenta - 6 mm above yellow
- cyan and black - 12 mm above yellow
Could you try the Stylus SX400, and if that doesn't work, the CX4100?
Apologies for how long this is taking...
No luck with those drivers either.
I even tried the sx200 ppd file from 5.2.6 and I get the same errors, so it might not be the ppd file after all.
The PPD file has nothing to do with it. Can you reinstall 5.2.6 to determine whether that works?
Are you getting misaligned colors with both the SX200 and SX400 drivers? Do they look the same?
I use 5.2.6 regularly. It works.
The misalignments look the same with all the tested 5.2.7 drivers.
What are you using to print? CUPS? The Gutenprint enhanced print plugin for GIMP?
the Gutenprint plugin for GIMP
