Does anybody have experience with this? > It does not speedup things compared to normal, a thread pool is used anyways for rendering, which is split in two chained tasks, reading data and painting data, connected with a queue. The setThreadPool is marginally beneficial if you have a ton of tiny rendering requests, since setting a thread pool of your own you'd avoid the creation of the secondary painting thread for every request (the speedup is probably measurable, but I don't believe you'll be able to see it by the naked eye).
