It's probably too much of a moving target at the moment. Nothing worse than getting a book and finding that the API it describes is long gone. That happened with Netbeans: The Definitive Guide. Bad choice of title :-) But other library projects have managed to publish useful books. wxWidgets (previously wxWindows), the C++ GUI framework, did a great job despite that project having many more regular code contributors than Geotools with many (most ?) doing the coding in their own time. But they also didn't have the blessing/curse of Standards that they were obliged to adhere to.
