Hi, I'm writing the SDE DataSource, although had no much time last 2 weeks
of project dead line at work.
I suggest you to wait for a few days to try this. I expect to send the code
this sunday, since a lot
of rework has been done since that snapshot I have send a couple of weeks
I will find very constructive to share it with you, since I have only acces
to my SQLServer SDE 8.1 version,
and don't know how will it run in an Oracle instalation.
By now, the situation of this datasource is:
- it is ready to fetch full features from the database
- I'm starting to work in filtering, but the lack of good SDE Java API
documentation is an issue
- The most part breaking my head is that I found the FeatureCollection's
model not very appropiate for real world applications, since
almost all implementations I have seen loads the full amount of
into memory prior to processing it.
That's why I was working in a "flyweight" version of this datasource,
but although it works fine (very) for fast and read only pass throw
operations such as exporting to another format, it still smells much
like a workarround instead of a good implementation...
After all, this has to do with DataSource (and FeatureCollection too,
IMHO) design issues discussed in part in last IRC meeting (unfortunatelly I
forgot to presence due to brain flat line signals)
In the mean time, since I really need to use it urgently, I will keep
working on it and hope to be able to contribute with some
new ideas and test code for improving such datasource requirements.
