+1 on the release candidate, and no, I don't believe we should bend over backwards to follow OGC,
imho it's something that we should do on the new trunk when opportunity/funding shows up to
do such modifications.

Agreed. I don't think just changing over the schemas blindly is the answer either regardless of the OGC stance on this. And coming up with a way to do this cleanly and and in a backward compatible way will not be trivial.
