Yeah, the SLD would be good to have. SLD is not yet fully supported, we hope to have it soon though. Does the default states file work for you? It's using SLD and should work. There are a few parts of the SLD spec that aren't fully implemented for the KML output. As an open source project we do welcome anyone who wants to get in to the code and help out.
