I have tried to install and run the GN242 distribution on Mac OS X 10.4. It
has Java 1.5 update 13, which is the latest Java available for this platform
(OS X 10.4) without hacking.
I selected all options in the installer except the CSW client. The installer
runs fine, although it displays 2 times an empty dialog box that just asks:
"continue?". Answered Yes, both times.
Then ran the newly installed GN (default run, using Jetty and McKoi). It
failed to properly start the applications because of:
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
After this I downloaded the GN2.4.x sources from SVN, built it and installed
it. This time the installer posed no intrigueing questions and the resulting
newly installed GN runs fine.
Did anyone else see this? Anybody tried running it on a Java 1.5 platform on
a different OS?
