Options to save files on tab focus loss like in Netbeans autosave module or even greater instantly saving files like in Scratch text editor without any delay. What's your opinion. Thanks

Saving to a temporary file is ok, but Geany must not save over the original file until the user says so.

Perhaps you could add this as an extra (default off) option for the save-actions plugin.

I disagree. If the user sets the option "save when a tab loses focus" then geany is saving when the user says so. I wouldn't make it the default but I don't see any reason to disallow it.

Geany ships with the "Save Actions" plugin that isn't enabled by default. Not sure if you tried it, but it might serve your purpose.

  • Yeah i tried that one. It has only autosave interval in seconds but that's not the case. I need a convenient way not to press Ctrl-S every time to see modified html page when i'm switching to browser so i set up 1 sec for interval because 2 is to long and it not always catches up, for that tab name becomes red every second when i'm typing and it's distracting, if i open save-protected file it tells me that with modal box every second so i need a shaman spirit to close it. Geany is great and with suchlike improvements it will dominate

Save Actions has instant save too. (I haven't tried it but I saw the option)

    • that feature adds specified extension to the newly created file and it's not saving that file instantly every time you edit

I make a proposition on the devel@lists.geany.org maillist, we'll see what happen :)
