it would be really nice to have more encoding options

i was searching on windows for a text editor, which supports the conversion from "mac roman" to cp1252
-- couldn't find any that would handle it correctly -- not even ultraedit
-- only libreoffice somewhat -- but the save as didn't provide direct encoding change

http://www.string-functions.com/encodingtable.aspx?encoding=10000&decoding=1252

in the end i used python
with codecs.open(myFile, 'rU', 'macroman') as sourceFile:
with codecs.open(".\\converted\\"+myFile.name , 'w', 'cp1252') as targetFile:

on Geany 0.21 on Windows XP SP3

If your computers iconv library supports macroman *and* it can detect the filetype correctly the file should open in Geany and can be saved as windows-1252 which is an alias of cp1252.

There is no portable programatic way of detecting what encodings a platform supports to add them to the menu list so even the list we have may not work on all platforms.
