It will be convenient to have hide (close) buttons on sidebar and message window to close its by mouse: in set of times mouse cursor is near to corner of such window then keyboard.
To hide the sidebar or the messages window completely, there are keybindings: Toggle Sidebar & Toggle Messages Window
To hide either the symbol list or the document list in the sidebar, right click in one of them and choose the appropriate menu item to hide.
I don't think there is a need for tab close buttons.
