Geany is a fantastic editor from what I've seen, but I
greatly prefer to work with a light text on dark
background color scheme. Would it be possible to
either add other color/highlighting schemes to Geany,
or allow it to be user-customizable?

    See the documentation for Filetype definition files:
    http://geany.uvena.de/manual/ch03s09.html

    The filetypes.common section explains the invert_all option,
    which should be overridden in
    ~/.geany/filedefs/filetypes.common with this line:
    invert_all=1;0;false;false

    The [styling] Section explains the format for each style.
    For now there is no common styling, it must be set for each
    filetype.* file. In future this may be configurable in
    Preferences.

    I'm leaving this request open until we implement an option
    for inverting the syntax colours in the prefs dialog.

    This has now been implemented in 0.18.
