I've never used it, but I know a few big fans of ClearCase. I used PVCS a long time ago, but was never too impressed with it. We use SourceSafe, although that's mostly a result of it's convenience (we're a Microsoft shop, and I use almost every dev language/tool they provide). Overall it may be less than stellar, but it's straightforward and gets the job done. I've been through Projector (never again), SourceSafe (never again), Perforce (SWEET!!!) and CVS (works OK). Perforce, if you use it in unlock/edit mode, is much faster than CVS, and has much nicer reports and meta information. On large projects with lots of interdependent components, it's a life saver.
