My 3-d artist says he "would be suprised if a real-time engine does not support self-illumination (aka 'glow') maps." Do you know about this or how it would be implemented? Best Regards, Matt |

Essentially you write the lightmap to the buffer, then multiply (modulate) the color map into it. The light maps are usually written first so you can combine them by adding them together. If you need something like glowing lava or glowing energy, that can also sometimes be done with a color and alpha map and just blitted on top of your normal surface.
