I am using ubuntu 6.10 and was able to successfully install libj2k.  However, after typing ./configure for gst-jpeg200-1.0.0 I received the output below.  I also included the text from the config.log.  It appears to be looking for a version of gcc greater than version 5.  Since that is not in the repositories, will installing gcc version 5 (or above) have a negative effect on my ubuntu upgrades?  Or is the problem not with my version of gcc?
