docroot == DocumentRoot in httpd.conf
As I understand it, the only problem is this:
> www-data@...:~$ wget --no-check-certificate
> --00:58:15-- https://localhost:8008/mp3fs/
> => `index.html'
> Resolving localhost... 127.0.0.1
> Connecting to localhost|127.0.0.1|:8008... connected.
> WARNING: certificate common name `Sam Davies' doesn't match
> requested host name `localhost'. HTTP request sent, awaiting
> response... 403 Forbidden 00:58:15 ERROR 403: Forbidden.
Is that the only problem? What are you expecting when you attempt to get
this URL? Do you expect apache to serve a particular file, or give you a
listing of files, or what?

First, it would be helpful to know what your docroot is set to. Second, it
would be helpful to know what your mount point is, i.e., the output of "df".
Third, if you aren't doing it, you need to do the "stat" commands through
the mount point. Finally, you did not stat every component in the path.
You did a stat on /var/www/ and then you skipped straight to the file. You
need to stat every directory along the way.
