I am trying to compile fuppes from svn on Mac OS X 10.5.2. I'm using MacPorts for package management. When I run "autoreconf -vfi" I get the following:

$ autoreconf -vfi
autoreconf: Entering directory `.'
autoreconf: configure.in: not using Gettext
autoreconf: running: aclocal --force
configure.in:51: warning: macro `AM_ICONV' not found in library
autoreconf: configure.in: tracing
autoreconf: running: glibtoolize --copy --force
You should update your `aclocal.m4' by running aclocal.
configure.in:51: warning: macro `AM_ICONV' not found in library
autoreconf: running: /usr/bin/autoconf --force
configure.in:51: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_ICONV
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
See the Autoconf documentation.
autoreconf: /usr/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1

I do have gettext and libtool installed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Eric

I too had the same error message with macports gettext 0.17 installed. I went back to macports and found two other packages with gettext in the title. After installing gettext-lint and p5-locale-gettext, the AM_ICONV error went away.

I now have another error when running autoreconf -vfi (fuppes svn revision 614 on OSX10.4.10):

autoreconf: Entering directory `.'
autoreconf: configure.in: not using Gettext
autoreconf: running: aclocal --force
autoreconf: configure.in: tracing
autoreconf: configure.in: not using Libtool
autoreconf: running: /opt/local/bin/autoconf --force
configure.in:10: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_DISABLE_STATIC
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.in:12: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL
autoreconf: /opt/local/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1

If I get it working, I'll try to remember to come back here and post what I did.

I was missing libtool on those last two errors during autoreconf -vfi.

sudo autoreconf -vfi: success
sudo ./configure: success but no audio transcoding, ffmpeg or imagemagick
sudo make: success

However, when I type fuppes, I get command not found.

did you try:
./fuppes
