In local_config.py, set the variable XINE_VO_DEV =3D 'xxmc' (This is for the current SVN version, but I'm sure that 1.5.4 has a similar variable). AFAIK, HW-accelaration for the EPIA boards is not in standard mplayer. A year ago or so, there was a patch for mplayer to support this hardware. I don't know if there is still a patch around for current mplayer releases.
