I've added a dependency on AT&T's GraphViz to FO. This is to aid me in doing the tech graph layout, which would otherwise take me a month or more. It has sort of a weird license. We can distribute the source or binaries unchanged, but must give credit to AT&T in derivative works (e.g. FO). We can change the source, but then we have to distribute the changes as a patch, and give AT&T a copy of the patch. Building GraphViz for Windows is a bit of a hassle, so I haven't added the GraphViz-dependent files to the Windows build quite yet; I'll do that once I have a good way to semi-automate the GraphViz build under Windows. Which version of GraphViz are you using? Mark On Tue, 2005-01-11 at 12:54 -0600, Zach Laine wrote: > I've added a dependency on AT&T's GraphViz to FO. I'm unable to compile current CVS on Linux with graphviz 1.11 which is what comes with SuSE 9.1. I'm getting a syntax error in the global.h header of graphviz. Also it appears that the detection of graphviz is not currently being done by configure. I'm going to try updating to 2.0 which is the current stable release from the graphviz website and see if that helps. Also, this is my first time building FO, and there is no mention of fmod as a dependency in the Compile section on the wiki <http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Compile>. Is this just an oversight? It also does not seem to be being detected or added to the -I flags by the configure script. I had to google for fmod.h to figure out why it was not being found. P.S. Zach, hey, it's me. Finally, got around to actually checking things out, and, of course, it's my luck that I can't compile anything. ;) I figured that I'd get a chance to play with some stuff with the 3 day weekend. -- Brandon Forehand |

Hi, I've tried with graphviz 1.16 and it fails, 2.0 works so use that. fmod is needed, and it is an oversight that it is absent from the compile section, I'll add that now. Sorry about that. I've been letting people know about recent library dependency changes via the freeorion-programmers list, and haven't been keeping the Compile wiki (or any other sources of build documentation) up to date.
