My name is Olex Lozitskiy. I am newcomer-developer to the FO project. So far i can't get past installing libraries for FO.
I'll try to be as clear as possible:
1. First, I got cvs FO, ran autogen.sh - successful, then ran configure - FO needs GiGi
2. so I got cvs GiGi - ran configure - needs DevIL
3. OK, i got devil, installed it; went back to GiGi, but it does not pass the devil check ;-(
Here is what I have tried:
installing rpm's, tar.qz, and cvs of devil 1.6.6, 1.6.5, and 1.6.1; i've put libraries into /usr/local/lib, /usr/lib, and even /lib, check the presense of /usr/include/IL and /usr/local/include/IL - all that did not help so far.
I have looked at config.log created by GiGi's configure:
at the line where it checks for devil:
configure:23027: checking for DevIL
configure:23052: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT conftest.c -lILUT -lGL -lGLU -L/usr/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib -lSDL -lpthread -lIL -lILU >&5
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.3.2/../../../crt1.o(.text+0x18): In function `_start':
: undefined reference to `main'
/usr/lib/libIL.so: undefined reference to `_vsnprintf'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
so, it seems to find the library, but some failure (?) prevents it from accepting library (gcc check went fine before devil check).
my specs: fedora core 1 linux, gcc 3.3.2, SDl 1.2.6 and the rest of system is completely up-date with help of apt-get (got only stable packages)
One more thing: devil package contains examples, when i try to compile them i get the same error:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.3.2/../../../libIL.so: undefined reference to `_vsnprintf'
After days of trying to solve this, any help will be very much appreciated. It's about time to start coding rather than messing with stuff like this. ;-(
Thanks in advance.
