Okay, this one's kind of wierd. Whenever I move to
save a game, it takes forever and claims an error
saying: Cannot save under filename [filename here].
Actually it does save under said filename. After
saying "OK" the game will continue on.

Thanks guys,

What is the filename that you are trying to save as? And
could you post the offending savefile as well?

Hey tzlaine, I told geoff that I wasn't going to post here
because I saw the same thread problem that I was having but
than I looked in the thread and the other guy hasn't
messeged you back. Ok here is what my problem was. Same idea
as above but this is what I did. First off I started the
game with maxed out star systems and it was fine for say 4
saves than it started going slower when trying to autosave
and when I looked out to the code window it said that there
had been a problem saving the file. So I took off the
autosave thinking I will just save it myself... well the
first time I tried to save after that, it came up with an
error that said unable to save file press ok (this was after
about the same lag time as the autosave), so after that I
tried to resave after the same name and it worked. This
continued no matter what the save game name was, whether I
was using the autosave names or my own. After I got tired of
waiting so long for saves I tried taking down how many star
systems there were, I believe I took it down to 50. Also I
might add that I was in system shape 4 arm than I switched
to circular on the second, don't think it had any effect but
I thought you might want to know all settings. ANYHOW after
I switched game to 50 system circular I never had a saving
problem afterwords... it might just be that it is hard for
the hardware to handle but I still don't think that explains
why it WAS able to save in the end. Oh the other thing...
when I was encountering the error I never tried to switch
the save name after... so say I was saving under the name
"save1" After it failed saving I would use that same save to
do the actual saving... so to clarify I wouldn't save, fail,
save under a different name. I would save, fail, save under
the same name. I did change the save name almost every time
before it failed... sorry if I am being confusing, ask for
clarification if you need it. Anyhow I believe that that
encompasses the problem and I hope that you can nail it down.

Please post the file(s) that produce this problem. If
necessary, post several (if they alternate between ok sves
    and giving you problems).

tzlaine sorry its been a while... had a problem with my
wireless modem :P Ok one, how do you post the files that you
want... two, I don't think it actually is the files because
I am actually able to save if I try to save twice in a
row... of corse I use the same name as the failed one so I
don't know how that will help you... I will go and check the
saved games for the right settings while I wait for your reply.

Log in, then look at the bottom of this page; there's a
    place for sumitting files.

Just rename one of them with a "good" in it and another with
a "bad" in it before uploading them, to indicate which one
    was saved with/without error.

Ya geoff that looks like what happens in the code window
when it was on autosave... doesn't happen in manual save
though, even when it fails... odd
