hi,william
i install freenas from an emmbened USB from FreeNAS-8.0.1-RC1-amd64-Full_Install
[root@freenas] /usr# uname -a
FreeBSD freenas.local 8.2-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p2 #10: Tue Aug 30 12:14:17 PDT 2011     jpaetzel@servant.iXsystems.com:/b/sf_freenas_build/obj.amd64/b/sf_freenas_build/FreeBSD/src/sys/FREENAS.amd64  amd64

so i can not find the plugins in sourceforge.
are there any other way to achieve the same goal?
i perferred the CLI mode

thanks so much for your kindness

thanks for you quickly reply;
but my FreeNAS version 8.2 and don't support Plugins service.
I really need the command lines  to configure Jail. why i can't start the jail?

I am pretty sure it does, please follow the documentation. The jail must be started within the GUI.

It demonstrates how to setup the plugins jail, access it and install additional software (prefer ports over binary).

hi,developers
I want to install packages on FreeNAS 8.2, and follow the Fourm,
$ mount -uw /
$ pkg_add -r duplicity-devel
then, many errors occurs,like:
/var: write failed, filesystem is full
share/python2.6/Tools/world/world: Seek failed
………………
tar: (Empty error message)
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
pkg_add: tar extract of /mnt/test1/huangjun/python26.tbz failed!
pkg_add: unable to extract '/mnt/test1/huangjun/python26.tbz'!

and then i used the another method, using Jail to install extra softwares,
unfournately,also not success:

[root@freenas] /usr# /etc/rc.d/jail start www
Configuring jails:.
Starting jails: cannot start jail "www":
jail: getpwnam: root: No such file or directory

and the /etc/rc.conf file like this:

### jail related settings ###
 jail_enable="YES"
 jail_list="www"
 jail_www_rootdir="/mnt/test1/issd/jail/www"
 jail_www_hostname="www.freenas.issd"
 jail_www_ip="192.168.0.30"
 #jail_www_devfs_enable="YES"
 #jail_www_devfs_ruleset="www_jail"
jail_exec_start="/bin/sh /etc/rc"
jail_exec_stop="/bin/sh /etc/rc.shutdown"
.
I am new to freenas, and search the forum for whole day, but gains little about this topic, and the HOW-TO partition also didn't have much information.
so,what's the recommended method to configure and use Jail in FreeNAS?
