Hi,

I'm currently using FreeNas v686stable running on a
ASUS CUR-DLS with two P3-933/1GB and booting from CF.

The system ran without any problems since I enabled
kernel tuning because of a very slow samba connection.

The "hang" occured while rsyncing one HDD to another
via cron job.

In the past I reconized such "hanger" too with another
board (AOPEN DX34 dual P3-650), but only when enabled
kernel tuning AND using a SMP board.

It seems to me, its a Problem of

high HDD load AND smp AND kerneltuning<<<

Unfortunately I cannot supply any log data, because I
have none.

Is there a way to redirect the console logging to
a tcp port, where I can connect via putty?

When yes, how?

RGDS

Now I have activated the remote syslogging.
Perhaps it will log the error to remote too,
not only on the console window.

    Hi,

    these kernel vars are set:

    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65536
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.tcp.recvspace=65536
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.udp.recvspace=65536
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.udp.maxdgram=57344
    /sbin/sysctl net.local.stream.recvspace=65536
    /sbin/sysctl net.local.stream.sendspace=65536
    /sbin/sysctl kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=2097152
    /sbin/sysctl kern.ipc.somaxconn=8192
    /sbin/sysctl kern.ipc.nmbclusters=32768
    /sbin/sysctl kern.maxfiles=65536
    /sbin/sysctl kern.maxfilesperproc=32768
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.tcp.inflight.enable=0
    /sbin/sysctl net.inet.tcp.path_mtu_discovery=0

Maybe you can play a little bit and change some vars to find out which causes your problem.

    Regards
    Volker
