No

Fedora has updated the version of FreeMind in their repositories. When I try to open my old mind map file, FreeMind brings up a dialog asking if the file should be converted to use the new format. If I have the program attempt to convert the file, the conversion fails and the following appears in the root item.

Error while parsing file:freemind.main.XMLParseException: XML Parse Exception during parsing of a map element at line 1: Expected: =

The mind map in question was created with version 0.9.0 and I am attaching a copy of the file to this issue.

I'm sorry that I filed this bug in the wrong place.

Freemind in Fedora used default JDK's XSLT transformer which doesn't seem to work correctly. I forced it to use Xalan instead in last update (not in stable yet) by putting it into classpath and setting -Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl. Upstream freemind has Xalan on classpath in the launcher script, so if it works without the explicit option, there is no need to change anything there.

Im having the same problem. It happens unexpectedly. It started to happen often so I downloaded 1.0.1-max. It happened even more so I uninstalled and installed 1.0.0_RC_5-max again. Now I get the file corrupted at least 1 time a day.

This file was created in 0.9.0 or 1.0.0 I dont remember.

I have to use cobian backup(great and simple backup softw BTW) because when it happens it wont let me save it. It says something like "the file has changed on the disk" and when I click save it says "saving failed" and the same happens if I try to "save as".

Can anyone give me a suggestion so I can use it without this fear of losing all my work? at least for the moment till it gets corrected. It is my GTD file =/

    thank you in advance

    PS: I use win7

Hey, sorry I wasnt clear, I have a similar error. Im not good with programming language, but I hope this screenshots help. I tried to make the file that Travis Nickles uploaded to crash and I did it fast encrypting nodes and adding a reminder inside. I will keep trying to make it crash without encrypted nodes.

    Hi,

please post a log file. The message "changed on disk" comes, when somebody changes the file outside of FreeMind. Maybe this is related to your backup software?
    HTH, Chris

Sorry I didnt come back before, I was setting up my file since I had to change to freeplane in an emergency. Im finally using it and it is stable in freeplane. Im going to miss the clones feature and other details of freemind, but I adapted well. I uninstalled freemind and deleted the files, sorry for not being helpful and provide the log files. hope you figure out what happened here.
    Thank you!
