is there any plan to add WebP image support? (http://code.google.com/speed/webp/index.html)
In case, i can help with that task.

You seem to have CSS turned off.
Please don't fill out this field.
I already tried WebP 0.1.3 and wrote a test plugin for this.
The library seems to be quite limited (only support 24- or 32-bit images). Furthermore, it doesn't allow to reproduce results described here:
unless you are using the provided experimental tools.
The library is still immature in its 0.1.3 version.
The GIT repository seems to contain a brand new library so let's wait the next release and see.
Another problem I encountered is that several files have the same name (e.g. in enc/, dec/).
This cause a problem under VC++ when compiled files are written in a single output directory (Debug\ or Release) : files are overwritten.
This took me while to see where the problem was !
libwebp-0.1.3 is indeed the last stable release, and doesn't contain the experimental features described in the study. These are only available from HEAD. Once frozen, they'll be integrated
in 0.1.4 (or 0.1.5).
WebP support is now available in the FreeImage CVS.
It will then be available with the next 3.16.0 FreeImage release.
NB: I'm still having problems with files having the same name. I had to rename these in order to be able to compile the library. I've also made minor modifications for VS2003 support (i.e. just check the MS VC version inside include files).
